FORMATION & EDUCATION
The Spiritual Formation and Education Ministry at St. James is dedicated to cultivating and supporting those who seek to deepen their faith through study, reflection, inquiry, dialogue, and experience.
We offer a variety of opportunities, both ongoing and periodically.
SUNDAY EDUCATION FORUM - 9 a.m. (Fireside Room)
During the program year (September - May), St. James offers an education forum between our 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services. Some offerings are multi-week sessions and others are one-off topics. The Cathedral's Education Committee oversees the forum and most of the sessions are taught by lay leaders. To view upcoming topics, please see the Cathedral Calendar.
CLERGY EDUCATION SERIES - Varies
At different times throughout the year, the clergy of the Cathedral will offer short series (typically 4-6 sessions) covering a particular area of interest. These series include both elements of education and spiritual formation. The Lenten Series also includes a worship experience and shared meal.
WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY - One morning a week
During the program year (September - May), Emily Niblick, a retired United Methodist Pastor, leads a weekly bible. The 2018-2019 study focused on the books of the Apocrypha. The 2019-2020 study is scheduled to focus on the Book of Revelation. For more information, please contact Emily Niblick.
DEAN'S SPEAKER SERIES
Starting in 2020, the Cathedral will be launching the "Dean's Speaking Series." The goal is to bring to the Cathedral influential leaders, both religious and secular, to speak to issues and ideas that are vital and relevant to world, especially those that impact our local community and address our covenant to strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human.
