ANNUAL FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

Each Fall at St. James, we invite the Cathedral Congregation and Friends of the Cathedral to participate in supporting the mission and ministries of the Cathedral by offering a pledge (a promise) for the upcoming year. A pledge is a commitment to give one's time, talents, and money as an expression of faith and a personal response to God's generosity. A pledge represents one's specific Christian commitment to "work, pray, and give for the spread of the kingdom of God" (BCP, p. 856).

VOLUNTEERISM: TIME AND TALENTS

“As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10). Sharing one's gifts of time and talents is the lifeblood of the Cathedral. How can you volunteer? There are countless opportunities like assisting with daily tasks, special projects, serving at the Food Bank, and actively participating in the various Cathedral ministries.

CASH OR CREDIT GIFT

Most gifts to St. James are cash contributions. For your convenience, you can use a credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express), check or cash. Online giving is also available.

PLANNED GIVING

Planned giving encompasses a variety of ways to create a gift to St. James using accumulated resources. Although planned giving usually involves financial or estate planning, it is not reserved for the wealthy. Planned giving is for anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources and provides the opportunity to make a considered choice about their ultimate disposition. Planned gifts are either outright gifts (i.e., gifts of appreciated securities, real property, personal property, etc.) or deferred gifts (i.e. bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts).

GIFTS-IN-KIND

Gifts in-kind are non-monetary items of tangible property such as equipment, art, collectibles, and other personal assets or materials that represent value to the St. James Community. Acceptance of gifts in-kind is restricted to gifts that support the mission of the Cathedral. St. James will not assign a value to an in-kind gift except for internal purposes. Gifts in-kind of $500 or more require IRS Form 8283 to be claimed as a deduction. Gifts of $5,000 or more also require an independent appraiser’s signature on IRS Form 8283. For information on tax deductibility, please consult your tax advisor.
