Opportunities to serve
A Message
from
the Dean
Cathedral Family:
As we embark on our five-year plan for growth, I am asking that you step up your engagement with SJC by serving in some capacity or by actively joining in an ongoing ministry.
As we move from the uncertainty of the past to a sustainable, thriving future all of us are needed to do our part in making SJC what we are called to be.
This is the year…no matter who you are, no matter what your activity level has been, now is the time for each of us to step up and claim the ministry God is calling us to. If you are willing to serve, please contact our Sr. Warden, Stan Boone, or me, as soon as possible. And please don't forget to turn in your pledge to SJC for 2022!
In gratitude and faith,
Dean Sam+

Lectors and acolytes
Are you interested in being an active part of Eucharist services?
Take the first steps by planning to attend our Lector and Acolyte training sessions. These trainings will help both you and the presiding clergy feel comfortable in the service you are providing. Feel free to attend one or both sessions, they will both be different! Whether you have been a previous active participant or are want to come and learn,
these trainings are for all.
Lector Training: Saturday, January 22, 2022 9-10:30 a.m.
Acolyte Training: Saturday, January 29, 2022 9-10:30 a.m.
Food bank
If anyone has any free time on Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. we could always use your help with tasks around the food pantry such as housekeeping and restocking.
We have had some friends and neighbors walk thru our new Food Pantry set up. We were looking to get some feedback on the best ways to serve our clients and make sure that the pantry is accessible to everyone. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback and are taking all comments seriously in hopes of creating the best experience for our clients. We will be doing a walk thru again and would love to have more parishioners and friends feedback. Thank you to everyone who has helped us with this.
Food Pantry volunteers would like to give a big THANK YOU to Mike Hobbs for all his hard work and support he has given to both the Food Pantry and St. James. A lot that has been done around the campus would not have been possible without him.
For more information please contact us at foodbank@stjamesfresno.org or call us at (559) 439-5011 ext. 303
Ushers and greeters
With continued in-person services, we are in need of Sunday ushers and greeters who can commit to regularly perform this duty. Ushers at St. James provide a ministry of hospitality and assistance to all worshippers, giving extra attention and help to visitors or those with special needs. Hospitality is paramount in our Christian faith, where to welcome strangers and regulars alike is akin to welcoming Jesus himself into our midst. If you are interested, please sign up below.
Knitters needed!
The Food Pantry would love to have some of our talented parishioners who knit, make some hats and scarves for our Yellow Bag ministry. Hats and scarves are two of the most requested items our community asks for. Additionally, we are looking to replace our window coverings. If anyone is willing to sew or donate window coverings, we would greatly appreciate it.

Hospitality
Can You Help Host Coffee Hour?
While dropping off goodies you have on hand is appreciated, we would prefer if you would sign up to host rather than drop single items off as many of the hosts like to coordinate a special presentation of items, rather than present a pot luck of sorts.
Interested in signing up to bring goodies?
There is now a calendar for the year of coffee hour dates online.
Please click HERE and sign up!
Thank you!
